Committee Delivers 12,000 Signatures to Place County Executive Term Limits on Ballot

Members of the Committee for Better Government delivered 12,139 signatures in an effort to place a question on this November’s ballot. The question seeks to limit county executive’s position to two terms.

Committee Chair Reardon Sullivan explains the effort:

Ten thousand signatures are needed by July 29. The Board of Elections will review every signature to verify they are from registered voters in Montgomery County.

Realizing that some names will be rejected, Committee Chair Reardon Sullivan stated, “We are not done yet.” He hopes to deliver another 7,000 signatures soon.

Currently, the county executive can serve numerous terms if he receives the majority of the votes, while county councilmembers are limited to two terms.
